Behind the pseudonym VEDA BLACK is 23 year-old Corinne, South East London based singer-producer. Raised by her mother, Annemarie, a dressmaker and fashion designer from Jamaica, Corinne was bought up to appreciate her Caribbean roots and her power as a woman.
VEDA BLACK gathers element of classic Soul, Hip Hop & 90’s RnB that fuse into a ‘lo-fi alternative-soul’ with ruthless lyrics and a “take no prisoners” attitude.
Musical inspiration comes from artists like Erykah Badu, Anderson .Paak, Pink Floyd, Donny Hathaway, Minnie Riperton and Destiny’s Child.
“The young singer truly knows her stuff as she floats effortlessly over the head-nodding guitar-driven backdrop. Truly you can hear the Baduizm in her vocal style which is malleable and lush while the production definitely mirrors Anderson .Paak’s R&B and hip-hop fused style.” – EARMILK
“The artist’s ability to capture bits of funk, lo-fi indie, and old school hip-hop make for an engaging joy-ride. She’s got all the right pieces floating into place – the sound here is new and anachronistic all at once.” – Indie Shuffle
“Debut single from South East London singer-producer VEDA BLACK sounded amazing on your Tuesday night” – Jamz Supernova, BBC 1xtra

Kwoli Black is a multifaceted artist, who’s beginnings in music have become a foundation from which he has grown in both identity and sound. The EP Imagine.Free. speaks on freedom and is laced with inspiration from his favourite artists. Blurring the lines of hiphop, jazz, funk and poetry he strives to create a sound that liberates those who listen to it.
After reaching over 10.000 streams on spotify, Kwoli has begun work on new music, arguably far different to the EP, as he strives to evolve as both an artist and an entertainer, and spread the movement of Freedom to the world.
