BaJa Ukweli
Artist/Muralist
BaJa Ukweli has been involved in visual art and many of its disciplines including: [drawing, painting, graffiti, airbrushing, graphic design, digital art and photography] for more than two decades. He studied illustration and visual communication at the University of the Arts and Art Institute of Philadelphia. He has also taught art as well as conducted lectures and workshops to urban youth and youth organizations.
BaJaʼs work challenges the medial impositions encountered through the destructiveness of oppressive world views and ideologies, cultural colonization, social distortions and spiritual perversions that threaten the existence of truth. The hope is to liberate perspectives from the encroachment of post traumatic conditioning and to incite insurrection in each one of us.
This is BaJa’s 2nd year working with Afropunk.
